Mouthwatering Apple Butter
It’s not Autumn if there is no apple butter in the fridge. This is something I make once, maybe twice, a year! My grandparents used to make it, and the second it touches my tongue, the memories come rushing back to me.
This recipe is so easy. Plus you will impress everyone when you gift them a jar of this deliciousness. Yes, you are going to share!
You’ll need:
Slow cooker/Crock Pot
3 lbs. of Fiji or Pink Lady apples (these are my fave because they are naturally sweet)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar
This recipe yields about 3-5, 8 ounce sized jars, depending on size!
Chop and core apples. No need to peel. You’re welcome.
Place apples in slow cooker. Add sugar and cinnamon.
Cook on low for 12 hours. Stir occasionally. Uncover and cook for another hour.
Puree with a blender. If it seems runny, don’t worry it will thicken in the fridge.
Let cool before you store in the fridge!
What’s the difference between apple butter and apple sauce, you ask?
The consistency and color are 100% different. Apple butter has the consistency of a spread once it cools. It's also much darker in color. Another difference is that apple butter cooks in a slow cooker for about 10-12 hours whereas apple sauce can be made over the stove in 20 minutes!
What do you use apple butter for?
OMG, EVERYTHING! But mostly as a spread on toast, English muffins, biscuits, etc. I’m freaking drooling. You can also add it to your oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, and yogurt! Literally anything that needs a little extra flavor. Welcome to flavor town. LOL.
Now stop reading and go make some! You won’t regret it, and your friends and family will thank you.
Thankful for all y'all!
Always and Whatever
