Lemon Ginger Wellness Shots
Y’all, I have never felt prouder. These lemon ginger wellness shots may seem intimidating, but I promise they are super easy!
Ginger shots are known for their powerful anti-inflammatory, immune-boosting, and antioxidant properties. They are super popular at juice bars, and you can even grab them at most grocery stores. This recipe is easy and will save you some bucks if you have become addicted to wellness shots like I have in this weird germy world.
Ginger is used to treat nausea, indigestion, and muscles soreness. It’s a superhero in the world of superfoods, and definitely one of my favorite anti-inflammatory foods.
Side note: The first time I took one of these, I thought my throat was on fire. Haha! FEEL THE BURN. It’s from the potent flavor compounds in the fresh ginger. Don’t feel like a wuss if you need to chase it with some water.
Okay, now that I’ve scared you, let’s get started :)
You’ll need:
1/4 cup ginger root, washed and roughly chopped
1/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (3-4 lemons, depending on size)
1/4 cup coconut water
Pinch of cayenne pepper
High power blender or chopper
Fine mesh strainer
Once you have cleaned and roughly chopped your ginger (no need to peel, you’re welcome), throw everything in your chopper or blender. Blend until smooth.
Strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer. Press on the solids with the back of a spoon to get as much juice as possible.
Pour your strained liquid into shot glasses. Drink all at once.
These shots will stay fresh for up to a week in the fridge. I like to double the recipe to have some on hand.
Yes, these are INTENSE. But in this germ-infested world, why not take care of your immune system and boost it as much as possible?!
Hope you enjoy! Tell me how it goes when you have your first one. Cause HOT DAMN.
Stay healthy friends!
