Fancy AF Simple Syrup
This simple syrup recipe is a game changer. I rarely, if ever, drink cocktails. But I LOVE to enjoy a fancy mocktail. Non-drinkers like to have fun too! I also have a lot of friends taking part in “Dry January.” When we talk about it, they mostly miss the ritual of having a drink. If that’s what you’re missing, try satisfying your craving with some delicious mocktails.

Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Herbs/Flower ideas
2 mint leaves
2-3 lavender buds
2 sprigs of rosemary
Dried hibiscus flower
Cinnamon stick and a few cloves
Step 1: Add sugar and water to a sauce pan on low heat. Bring syrup to simmer, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
Step 2: Add your chosen herb or flower. Continue to simmer for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat.
Step 3: Allow syrup to cool. Strain syrup into the bottle of your choice for storage.
Step 4: FIND ALL THE DRINKS YOU WANT TO MAKE AND START MAKING THEM.
Here are two of my fave mocktails using infused simple syrup.
Grapefruit Fizz
1/2 cup grapefruit juice
Pinch of Himalayan or sea salt
2 tbsp simple rosemary syrup
1/2 cup of soda water or grapefruit sparkling soda
Crushed ice
A sprig of rosemary, for garnish
Step 1: Pour grapefruit juice into a tumbler. Stir in salt and rosemary syrup.
Step 2: Fill your cup with ice. Top with your soda water or grapefruit soda. Add a sprig of rosemary, and don’t forget to put your pinky up. Cheers, babe.
Tastes like: This is a pretty, colorful and refreshing drink with a hint of rosemary. It takes a simple glass of grapefruit juice to the next level.
Lavender Lemonade
4 large lemons, sliced
1 cup sugar
2 cups boiling water
Dash of lavender simple syrup
Ice
Makes about 4 servings.
Step 1: Place the lemons and sugar into a heat-safe bowl. Pour the boiling water over them. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Allow liquid to cool.
Step 2: Mix in the lavender simple syrup, a little at a time, to taste. It should taste very lemony with just a hint of lavender.
Step 3: Fill pitcher or jug with ice, then pour in lemonade. It’s ready to serve!
Tastes like: Refreshing, zesty lemons with a hint of lavender.
Hope you love these like I do! Happy January!
Always and Whatever
