Citrus Ginger Wellness Shots

YUM

You know I love my wellness shots! Click here for the OG wellness shot recipe (my most visited blog). So many people I know have gotten on board with wellness shots and made it part of their lifestyle. Once you try them, you'll be coming back for more.

I have had a couple complaints, like, “it’s too spicy.” Did you say that in a baby voice? I did, LOL. To make the recipe a little more mellow, I’ve started adding the juice of a large navel orange. It’s crazy what a difference it makes! I still make a regular spicy batch from time to time, because I just really need to feel the burn sometimes.

Anyway, I hope your year is off to a great, healthy start!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup ginger root, washed and roughly chopped

  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (3-4 lemons, depending on size)

  • 1/4 cup coconut water

  • Pinch of cayenne pepper

  • High power blender or chopper

  • Fine mesh strainer or fine mesh bag

  • Juice of one large navel orange

Step 1: Squeeze your lemons and orange. Once you have cleaned and roughly chopped your ginger (no need to peel, you’re welcome), throw everything into your chopper or blender. Blend until smooth.

Step 2: Strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer or a fine mesh bag. Press on the solids with the back of a spoon to release as much juice as possible.

Step 3: Pour strained liquid into shot glasses. Drink all at once.

These shots will stay fresh for up to a week in the fridge. I like to double the recipe to have some on hand. These are the only kinds of double shots I take these days.

January is almost coming to an end, thank goodness! Hang in there.

Cheers!
