Apple Donuts + Nachos
These apple “donuts” and “nachos” are our new favorite afternoon snacks. I’ve been mindful about incorporating more whole foods into our diet lately, and it has led to some creative recipes. These apple nachos and donuts have been two of the best ones! I like to add sprinkles and caramel drizzle to keep it fun and balanced. We have snacked so hard this summer.
Let’s get started!
I really love the crispness of a Honey Crisp apple, but feel free to use your favorite apple variety.
Ingredients:
1-2 apples
Your favorite nut butter
A variety of different butters is great for donuts. We used sunflower, chocolate sunflower, and peanut butter.
Sprinkles
Caramel sauce for caramel drizzle
Apple corer
Apple Donuts
Step 1: Wash and core an apple. Slice the apple into “donuts,” each about a quarter-inch thick.
Step 2: Add the fun stuff! I like to mix it up with different combinations of nut butter, caramel, and sprinkles. Get as creative as you want! They are so cute.
Apple Nachos
Step 1: Slice an apple using a slicer or knife. I use an apple slicer and then cut each piece into about 3-4 slices. I prefer thin apple slices for this recipe.
Step 2: Place apple slices on a plate like you would with nacho chips.
Step 3: Add all the yummy stuff. I add sunflower butter to a Ziploc bag and warm it for about 10 seconds so it’s easier to drizzle. I like to drizzle nut butter first, then caramel. Last, add raisins and sprinkles! If you're a super cool mom, you’ll add a dollop of whipped cream.
These snacks are great for back to school season. It's so hard to find the sweet spot for a yummy afternoon snack that doesn’t spoil dinner, but this one hits the mark!
Hang in there, fam. Hope y’all survived summer. I know I’m hanging by a thread. Lol
Always and Whatever
